LightSup! Heads to Tokyo Game Show!

Story image

September 14th, 2026 Publisher Red Dunes Games, together with developer Bugblio Studio, is excited to announce their attendance at this year's Tokyo Game Show 2026, presenting their LightSup! game that is targeted for release Q1 2027 for PS5, Xbox X/S, and Switch, alongside PC.

Development began in 2023, and the core concept remains the same: a couch co-op dungeon adventure where friends work together to restore light to a world trapped in an eternal eclipse. Through extensive testing and feedback over the last year since TGS 2025, the game has been refined to improve pacing, user experience, and quality-of-life features, resulting in a polished, enjoyable presentation.

In LightSup! an endless eclipse has shrouded the world in darkness. When a band of young adventurers uncovers the cause during training, they find the Altar of Light is all that stands between their people and the encroaching monsters — or the creeping madness of this chaotic age. Determined to unravel the eclipse’s secret and restore hope, they set out to save their world.

“We believe in storytelling that feels alive, brought to life through vibrant dialogue, thrilling gameplay, and unforgettable moments. Best experienced together, every adventure unfolds with friends by your side. Whether you’re here for deep mysteries or chaotic fun, a bright, bold world awaits you.” Maythee Chauypoo, Founder @ Bugblio Studio

Better Together

LightSup! combines co-op action, roguelite elements, dungeon crawling, and survival mechanics. One of the team’s biggest development challenges has been successfully balancing these different gameplay systems so they complement rather than conflict with each other. The result is a slick, intuitive 1-4 player game! Solo play is available, although the game is intended to shine most when played with friends. Dungeons, cards, and enemy challenges were all designed with co-op in mind, making victories feel shared, earned, and memorable.

With two players, teamwork becomes precise and strategic; with four, it transforms into an unpredictable storm of shouting, improvisation, and clutch rescues- the heart of couch co-op fun.

Blessings and Curses bring every run to life. Blessings give the whole team powerful perks, such as enhanced abilities while dashing or faster prayer speeds. Curses offer even greater power, but come with a shared cost, like enabling friendly fire in exchange for better loot or periodic elite enemies. It’s a thrilling risk-reward system: embrace the curse’s strength and accept the consequences. The result is a constant challenge, strategic choices, and high replayability, ensuring that no two runs ever feel the same.

Players progress by unlocking Party and Character Upgrades, Blessings, Nightmare Challenges, and New Characters, shaping each expedition and encouraging teamwork. Every run also advances the wider progression, revealing lore and strengthening characters and their connections. Ultimately, players must work together to reach the Eclipse Core and confront the force threatening Lumineia, with teamwork and resilience determining its fate.

Within the World

Each area has its own special vibe and identity, so play never feels like mere repeats of one another. Bugblio Studio really wanted to create places that feel real, where you can sense the weight of what happened when the light dimmed. Take the Living Forest, for example. At first glance, it feels peaceful and vibrant, yet scattered throughout are the remnants of ancient structures, quietly hinting at stories of its once-glorious past. Then there’s the Ruined Castle, a place bursting with theatrical flair and home to some of the most exciting encounters we’re incredibly proud of!

What Bugblio Studio really cares about is letting the world tell its own story. One favorite little detail is a cozy blacksmith room. It doesn’t have any major game mechanics, but it beautifully illustrates how someone lived in that area. You can walk away with a deeper understanding of the place without anyone having to stop and explain everything. That’s the way we want it: the environment shares its history, and observant players are rewarded for their curiosity.

Cast of Many

Players explore diverse dungeons across the world of Illuvia alongside a memorable cast: Timid Tim, a gentle scaredy-cat who finds courage when his friends need him; Fyvana, a playful, ageless wanderer hiding a deeper divine purpose; Quill, a brave young adventurer who faces his fear of the dark; Lala, a brilliant and blunt thinker driven by curiosity and loyalty; and Meyer, a lion-hearted bard whose music guides both the young heroes and his own weary soul.

LightSup! combines the high-energy chaos of a beat-em-up, the progression of a roguelite, and the camaraderie of a co-op adventure, all wrapped in a heartfelt narrative about light, friendship, and courage.

This blend of tension and creativity influences Bugblio Studio's design at every stage.

Happy Adventuring!
